The Amman Film Festival announced the names of the jury members and the prizes to be awarded at its fourth session, which will be held from 15 to 22 August 2023. The festival aims to highlight Arab and foreign cinematic works, and is unique in Jordan in terms of size and organization.

The jury of the Arab feature films includes Andres Vicente Gomez, one of the most important and famous producers in Spain, and the film star “Iyad Nassar”, along with “Bushra Raza” and”Raja Amari”, a talented director.

The jury of the long-form Arab documentaries includes “Monica Borgmann”, a German – Lebanese director and producer, and” Iyad hammam”, a documentary film editor, in addition to” Nizar Atari”, a filmmaker, academic and film programmer.

Arab feature-length documentaries are competing this year for the FIPRESCI Prize, the International Film Critics Award for the promotion of cinematic art and the encouragement of new and young cinema.

The FIPRESCI jury consists of “Hinda hawala”, who served as the artistic director of the Tozer International Film Festival in 2019,” Shayan Riaz”, a journalist from Berlin, and” Mohamed Tarek”, an Egyptian film critic and festival programmer.

The Arab Short Film Jury includes Afaf Ben Mahmoud, a Tunisian actress, director and producer, Darin Salam, a Jordanian writer and director, and yemna Marwan, an actress who played the main roles in the long film” The Valley”directed by Ghassan Salhab in 2013.

The winners in each category will be announced during the closing ceremony of the festival on August 22, 2023. The winners will receive the bronze Black Iris award, designed by the late Jordanian artist Mehanna Al-Durra, who is considered a pioneer in the Jordanian Arts Movement. As well as incentive cash prizes for festival participants.

The jury also decided to award a special mention to some outstanding participants in the cinematographic field, such as an actor and an actress in their first role, a writer or screenwriter for his first work, and finally a monteyer or monteira for his first work.

A public vote is also held by the audience to choose their favorite film from among the participating foreign films, and the winner will receive the Black Iris award.
